Haws more or less safe despite home defeat

Hill of Beath Hawthorn could still face relegation from the East of Scotland Premier Division after they were beaten 3-0 at home by Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale.

However, the Haws have a superior goal difference, as well as two of the sides below them, Tynecastle and Dunbar United, facing each other in the last weekend.

Jason Dair’s side were well beaten by the visitors who took the lead right on half-time through Niall Kemp and he went on to double the lead on 71 minutes before Sean Wringe made sure of the points on 88 minutes.

The pressure was off for Dundonald Bluebell after they secured their place last week and they beat Sauchie 2-0 away from home. Ross Brown and Paul McManus grabbed the goals.

Jeanfield Swifts beat Musselburg­h Athletic 3-0 at Riverside thanks to second-half strikes from Chris McLeish (2) and Fraser Smith.

Crossgates Primrose led twice at New Countess Park against Dunbar United but had to settle for a point from a 2-2 draw.

Archie Campbell gave Crossgates the lead but Ben Bathgate sent the sides in at halftime level. Campbell was on hand to give Primrose the lead again on 47 minutes but the home side pinched a point thanks to Steven Thompson’s 89th minute goal.

Blackburn United eased their relegation worries after a comfortabl­e 4-0 win over Inverkeith­ing Hillfield Swifts at New Murrayfiel­d Park.

Thornton Hibs had a major hand in Haddington Athletic being crowned Conference A champions after they beat second placed Leith Athletic 2-1 at Peffermill. Garry Thomson scored both goals for Hibs.

Kennoway Star Hearts faced Haddington Athletic at Treaton Park in what turned out to be a tasty affair. Haddington took a first-half lead before a member of the Hearts coaching staff was sent off early in the second period.

The raised emotions had a positive effect as Daryl Falconer equalised on the hour-mark.

Haddington retook the lead with five minutes left and Hearts’ afternoon got worse when Craig Brand was sent off in stoppageti­me. With news of Leith Athletic’s defeat the Haddington players and support could celebrate their title win.

Kieran Ainslie scored as St Andrews United had to come from behind to take a point at home to Coldstream at Clayton Caravan Park Recreation Ground.

Oakley United received a double boost in their Conference B title challenge with a 2-1 win over Lochore Welfare at Blairwood Park. Stevie Day and Scott Bruce counted for Oakley, who need three more wins to claim the title. Matty Christie scored for Lochore.

Glenrothes moved into second place after a 5-0 win over Peebles Rovers at Warout Stadium. Stuart Cargill, Conor Schiavone, Kyle Bell, Dylan Blyth and Lea Schiavone grabbed the goals.

Kinnoull booked their place in next season’s Division 1 with a 3-0 win at Luncarty thanks to strikes from Rhys Davies (2) and Ben Ragen.

Burntislan­d Shipyard beat Hawick Royal Albert 4-1 with Ben Anthony, Jack Wilson, Jordan Galloway and Raymond Crichton all scoring.

Conor Murdoch scored for Lochgelly Albert in a 4-1 loss at Easthouses Lily, while Newburgh – thanks to Lewis Stevenson and Sam Kirkham – beat Stirling University 2-1 away from home.
