FALKLAND AND DISTRICT. President Ina Robertson introduced Jennifer Gill from the “Love Oliver” charity. She shared a very moving film of her son Oliver who had a very rare form of cancer and died aged only 24 weeks. Dorothy Booth proposed thanks. The bring and buy sales table raised £70. Competitio­ns: Baby garment – 1 Davina Winters, 2 Lyn Hamilton, 3 Margaret Pullar.

RATTRAY AND DISTRICT. Lesley Howkins welcomed members to the AGM and a new committee was elected. A quiz was led by Jean Smith and won by Fiona Ness. Competitio­ns: Oatie biscuit – 1 Linda Smith, 2 Kathleen McCormick, 3 Christine Love; flower of the month – Jacqueline Edwards.

LUNANHEAD.

President Alison Beattie welcomed Kelly Orr and Valerie Orr from Blooming Bees who gave a talk on their flower growing business. Alison Beattie gave thanks The presentati­on of cups were handed out to Lesley Shepherd. Most points in competitio­ns, Jennifer Hedge, and Lorraine Jackson winning the flower shield.

LONGFORGAN.

Retiring President Muriel Anderson introduced Liz Morrocco, artist and milliner. The annual trophies were then presented to Ann Cook for Housewives, Sheila Boyack for Handicraft­s and to Sandra Boe for the Bulb competitio­n and Flower of the Month.

MEMUS AND FERN. Davina Farquharso­n presided at the AGM. A welcome was given to all but especially to Ivan Laird who attended with Claire, his daughter-inlaw, who was donating a new trophy. A first was achieved in the Federation show cooperativ­e exhibit and a few members also won individual trophies. Elma Dickens was invited to present the institute competitio­n trophies and winnings. Memus cup, Ella Grant cup, Fern cup and also Fern plaque were won by Elsie Nicoll. Lavina Harvey won the Mrs Rattray Rose bowl and the Fern Shield won by Jane Butterwort­h. For most points at Federation level Mairi Alexander won the Laird Cup. Also a loyalty certificat­e of service and badge was presented to Ella Grant, Kathleen Melville, Elsie Nicoll, and Frances Craig, long standing members ranging from 40 years to 71 years membership. Ivan Laird was invited to do his presentati­on. In doing so he said Beth, a member for over 40 years, loved attending the institute and enjoyed organising functions as well as doing the competitio­ns. He presented the Beth Laird Memorial Salver for Home Skills. Lavina Harvey was presented with the Salver as the first winner. Whist winners – 1 May Hadden, 2 Frances Craig, 3 Edith Mearns and booby prize to Sandra Boath.
