Classic show revs up again

- JACK MCKEOWN, MOTORING EDITOR

Tayside Classic Motor Show is back after a two-year hiatus. The annual display of classic, vintage and antique vehicles returns on Sunday June 12.

Sponsored by Morris Leslie, the event is now in its 15th year.

Sadly, the 2020 and 2021 shows had to be cancelled because of pandemic restrictions.

Organisers are determined to return with a bang, however, and the 2022 event promises to be one of the biggest they’ve ever held.

More than 500 vehicles will be on display during the day, including cars, motorcycles, buses, fire engines and agricultural vehicles.

The vehicles range in age from the 1930s all the way to the 2000s and come from all over the UK,

Europe and even as far away as America.

Around 30 car clubs will be represented at the show. with enthusiastic owners on hand to talk to visitors about their beloved cars and restoration projects.

As usual, the venue is Errol Airfield, a pretty location close to the banks of the Tay and in easy reach of the motorway network.

Stalls will sell a variety of goods and there will be plenty of food vendors on site as well.

Youngsters will be kept amused with a children’s fair and face painting.

Meanwhile, the Mains of Fintry Pipe Band and performers from the Linda Grant School of Dancing will be providing plenty of entertainment.

Animal lovers will enjoy a display from the Star Paws flyball team.

The Tayside Classic

Motor Show raises money for local children’s charities, which will be present on the day to tell people about the valuable work they do.

The most recent Tayside Classic Motor Show was held in 2019 and raised an extraordinary £7,000 for Cash for Kids and other local charities for young people.

Organisers are hoping even that impressive target can be smashed by this year’s event.

The show opens to the public at 10am and tickets cost £5 per person, with senior citizens and children paying just £3.
