WARRIORS READY FOR LEINSTER CHALLENGE

-

Danny Wilson is aware of the magnitude of the task his Glasgow Warriors side face in their United Rugby Championship quarterfinal clash against Leinster today.

The Scotstoun side’s head coach named a matchday 23 containing 17 internationals for the match at the RDS in Dublin.

A Warriors win over the Heineken Champions Cup runners-up would secure a home semifinal game against either Sharks or Vodacom Bulls next weekend but Wilson knows they will have to win from the position of second favourites.

He told glasgowwarriors. org: “We know we go into this game as underdogs, but we’re confident that we have prepared well this week, welcome the challenge this game presents and look forward to putting our own imprint on it.”

Wilson named an unchanged frontrow from the side that started against Edinburgh a fortnight ago, meaning George Turner will once again pack down between Jamie Bhatti and Zander Fagerson.

● Mike Blair highlighted Edinburgh’s unity as they get ready to face the Stormers in today’s United Rugby Championship quarterfinal clash at DHL Stadium.

The knockout game is the capital club’s first-ever fixture in Cape Town and sees Blair’s side return to South Africa after becoming the first Northern Hemisphere URC team to win in the Rainbow Nation earlier this season with a 21-5 victory over Sharks in Durban.

Scotland winger Darcy Graham will make his 50th appearance for Edinburgh as scrumhalf Henry Pyrgos replaces the injured Ben Vellacott.

Blair said: “There’s a great feeling of togetherness with this group. They love playing for each other and representing this club.”
