No time to waste on global warming

-

Sir, – A letters contributor, Dr Charles Wardrop, said on June 4 that there are “still questions to ask on the climate”.

He states the full explanation of our climate is yet to be known. I cannot disagree with this, but does it mean we (the human race) should do nothing, until we know every last detail?

No! Unfortunately we do not have the time to sit on our hands until the evidence is staring us in our proverbial faces.

There are some astute long-seeing individuals and teams that have crunched the data and given us a guide, and they say it is staring us in the face now – we only need to look.

It is up to us to look and listen and, if it changes, change with it.

He also states there is no evidence at all of any benefit of reduced Co2. I should like to point out that in his previous letters he advises that the global temperature increase is predominantly driven by water vapour.

I agree that water vapour and Co2 are related causing global temperature increase. However, the majority alternative view noted in IPCC reports also by Nasa and NOAA climate scientists is that Co2 drives increases in water vapour, not the reverse, as suggested by Dr Wardrop.

Global temperature kills people, mainly the young and elderly. It creates water scarcity and food poverty, which increases human conflict. The survival instinct drives us all.

This is clear evidence that reduced Co2 reduces water vapour and it reduces global temperature – reducing food/water conflict.

Might I ask Dr Wardrop to consider that science uses a method, to validate theories by testing the data and ensuring that the results are reproducible, by peer review, doubleblind trials with placebos. The doctor will know this intimately.

Alistair Ballantyne. Birkhill,

Angus.
