Black Watch reminders bring back proud memories

-

Sir, – How delighted I was to see a reunion for the Black Watch at Perth.

It reminded me of when I was a tot.

Dad served in the Black Watch during the Second World War, and pictures and reminders of him are around me all the time.

But every year he would take me up to the barracks at Perth.

He was so proud of his regiment – this reason I included in many of my projects and books. But could I suggest to the group starting up to encourage members of the public who were involved with the Black Watch, as I was with dad, to come forward and tell their stories of family members and stories when within the Black Watch regiment?

Could I take the chance to also thank all readers for gifts and donations for my 40th anniversary of running my free service Identicat Scotland UK at Cowdenbeath?

I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of all. A big thank you for caring.

Could I also mention, as many readers are not able to put in letters, that folk should be careful with various groups starting for “emotional help”.

Please check into any first and make sure a counsellor or psychologist is in charge. It is very worrying as the main part of my free service is counselling.

I find many folk have been approaching groups starting up for help only to find, when they truly need help, there is no out-of-office hours available or address to contact.

Just please, I implore you all, check them out.
