Chloe meets race legend

-

Perth racing starlet Chloe Grant was thrilled to be invited to take part in the Sir Jackie Stewart Classic at Thirlstane Castle.

The Festival of Motoring presented by Rolex lured around 20,000 fans to the Borders venue near Lauder.

Hosted by Scotland’s three-time Formula One world champion, it generated £250,000 for the Race Against Dementia charity.

Chloe, 16, was delighted to meet Sir Jackie over the weekend, along with other motorsport legends Dario Franchitti and Allan McNish.

Her Graham Brunton Racing team, supported by Laser Tools Racing, enjoyed a high-profile spot in front of the castle, beside the crowd-pulling Red Bull F1 car.

They shared the awning with the 1967 Ferrari 312 driven by Frenchman Jean-Francois Decaux.

“I have had the privilege of meeting Sir Jackie before but it was wonderful to have a chat with him at the dinner along with John Clark, who is one of my sponsors,” said Perth High pupil Chloe, who is racing in the GB4 Championship this season after stepping up from a successful karting career.

“That was one of several special moments over the weekend that I will never forget. I knew the event would be fantastic, having visited the castle in advance and driven my GB4 car up the driveway. But it exceeded all my expectations.

“There was so much to see and do and the crowds were phenomenal. Thirlestane Castle was the perfect venue and there were over 1,000 classic and modern sports cars on view.

“It was amazing to see Sir Jackie driving his legendary 1969 Matra F1 car in Scotland for the first time and it’s fantastic that so much money was raised for a great cause.”
