Stars open with cup battle against Flyers

Dundee Stars will open the 2022-2023 Premier Sports Elite League season with a trip to Kirkcaldy for a Challenge Cup contest against Fife Flyers on Saturday September 10.

The season opener in Fife will be followed by the first home game 24 hours later as the Stars host Glasgow Clan in the Challenge Cup (face-off 5pm).

Prior to the opening weekend, there will also be four pre-season friendlies held in the two weeks before the first puck drop of the new campaign.

First up is a doublehead­er against head coach Jeff Mason’s previous club Belfast Giants, with the first game at the SSE Arena on Saturday August 27 and the second at the DIA on Sunday August 28.

The following weekend then sees the Stars renew their rivalry and test the waters against Glasgow in another double-header, with the first game in

Glasgow on Saturday September 3 and in Dundee on September 4.

Five days into the new season sees the Stars hit the big screen as Premier Sports broadcast the derby clash with Flyers on September 14.

Flyers host Stars in their opening home Challenge Cup fixture on Saturday September 10 – 24 hours after their first game of the season at Glasgow Clan in the same competitio­n.

The Kirkcaldy club have two other fixtures at Rosslyn Street in September, against Belfast Giants also in the Challenge Cup, on Sunday September 18 and against Manchester Storm in the Elite League on Saturday September 24.

Christmas and Hogmanay fixtures see Flyers at Dundee on Boxing Day with the return at Fife the following day.

Fife are at Belfast on December 29 and host Giants at the Fife Ice Arena on December 31.
