Tribute to missing Fife angler

- By Michael Alexander malexander@thecourier.co.uk

A TRIBUTE has been paid to missing Fife angler Fraser Carrington after a body washed up on the Mearns coastline was confirmed to be his.

The 32-year-old from Dysart was on a night fishing expedition at Tangle Ha, north of St Cyrus, when he disappeared in the early hours of last Sunday.

It is thought he may have been washed out to sea by a freak wave.

An extensive search of the coastline was carried out after a fellow sea-angler reported him missing.

Police confirmed yesterday that a body found on the shore near St Cyrus on Friday is that of the construction industry worker.

A statement said:“Police Scotland can confirm that the body recovered from the shore close to St Cyrus on Friday February 7 2014 at around 9am has been identified as that of Fraser Carrington, aged 32 years old, who had previously been reported missing.

“Next of kin have been informed and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal. There are no suspicious circumstances.”

Tracy Kane, a long-term friend of Mr Carrington and his family said: “I am so saddened by this news.

“I have known Fraser since we were both very young.

“He was a good, decent and very genuine man who was well liked, and he will be missed by all his friends.

“It didn’t matter if you hadn’t seen him in a while, he was always the same friendly guy.

“Some of my best childhood memories are of playing with him and his sister, Denise, at the rocket park in Dysart.

“Fraser later became one of my hairdressing clients and we used to put the world to rights whenever I went to his house to cut his hair.

“My thoughts are with Fraser’s family at this heartbreaking time.”
