McComiskie brace boosts North End

- North League

NORTH END returned to winning ways after the previous week’s defeat to Thornton, easing to a 4-0 victory at Forfar Albion, writes our junior football correspondent.

Scott McComiskie took his season’s tally to 27 goals with a double and Joe Colquhoun and John Rosscraig were also on target.

Kennoway Star Hearts moved up to second in the table after a comfortable 4-0 win away to Lochore Welfare, who were playing their first game since before Christmas.

A poor clearance by the keeper after 20 minutes let Ian Boylan in for an easy tap in for the opener.

Two minutes after the restart George Steel doubled the lead and Liam Craig added a third 20 minutes from the end.

New boy Kyle Wilson got a debut goal, scoring the fourth with four minutes left.

B l a i rg ow r i e and Forfar West End fought out a tight affair decided in Blair’s favour by the only goal of the game five minutes from the interval.

Steven Findlay was the scorer to earn his side three points to keep them in the hunt for promotion.

Although East Craigie’s 4-0 home win over Harp was comfortable enough in the end, it could have been a different story had Harp not squandered two second-half penalties in the space of a minute.

David Salisbury put the Shipbuilders ahead after 18 minutes and he doubled their advantage on the halfhour mark.

Craigie keeper Leighton Davidson denied Harp’s Sam McDonald twice from the spot, the second of which resulted in Craig Paterson being sent off for handling on the line.

After an hour, Craigie showed how it should be done, Brian Scrimgeour converting a penalty.

Harp were then reduced to 10 men when keeper Josh Gray was sent off and conceded a fourth goal through substitute Liam Ross with 10 minutes left.

Arbroath Vics were 2-0 winners at home to Brechin Vics after scoring once in each half. Ross Kenny got the opener after 38 minutes and with five minutes left a Craig Watson strike sealed victory for the hosts.
