Police raids net cash and thousands of pounds of drugs

-

Police have seized more than £128,000 of drugs in a series of raids across Tayside over the past month.

As well as the class A, B and C substances, officers have also recovered more than £47,000 in cash.

Police broke down the doors of properties across Dundee, Angus and Perth and Kinross during the raids.

Twenty-six people have been charged in the concern and supply of drugs as a result.

All the raids have been carried out as part of Operation Slate, the long-running police operation tackling drug dealing in Tayside.

Local policing teams were supported by Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit officers during the intelligenceled operations.

Detective Inspector Paul Riley, of the CID Proactive Team Unit, said: “Tackling drugs is one of the top priorities for Tayside and the action taken over the last month demonstrates our commitment to dealing with this issue.

“There will be no let up and the continued action ensures that lethal drugs are taken off our streets and those involved in drug supply are arrested and charged.”

DI Riley said that information provided from the public is vital in getting drugs off the streets.

“In tackling drug trafficking it is important that we continue to listen to the communities we serve and gather intelligence from the public which helps us target serious organised crime groups and drug dealing activity,” he added.

He said there will be no let up of the force’s anti-drugs campaign and encouraged people with information to contact 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
