Quality brown trout caught at Rescobie

-

Fishing has been hard going over the past two weeks at RESCOBIE with the cold wind keeping fish deep in the water, writes Neil Anderson.

Nevertheless there have been some good fish caught including Sandy Forgan with a brown trout of 6lb 15oz and Dave Simpson with a brown of 4lb 12oz.

April fish of the month leader Bobby Cox has been replaced by a brown trout of 6lb 15oz for Mr S Forgan, who also won last month’s competition.

RLDA had a club competition recently catching 44 fish for 114lb. It was won by Ron Gray with a total of 16lb 4oz with Alec Brewster second with 13lb 9oz.

Clubs visiting recently: ABCD, one brown trout of 6lb 8oz, 20 rainbows for 52lb 8oz; Stanley AC, 15 fish for 41lb 9oz; Dundee AC, three brown for 13lb 4oz, six rainbows for 19lb; Dundee West End, two brown for 5lb and 14 rainbows for 36lb 4oz.

Few anglers have caught the four-fish limit: Eric Sellers, 12lb; G Smith and Mr Bob, both 11lb 8oz; C Munro, Bobby Cox, Dave Simpson, all 11lb; Alan Wood, 10lb 8oz; W Johnston, 10lb 4oz. WILLOWGATE TROUT FISHERY saw very changeable weather with some calm mild days and some which were cold and windy.

Fishing has been fantastic especially on the calmer days.

The water clarity is good and continues to improve week by week.

Gilmerton Fishing Club had an outing last week weighing in 39 fish for 95lb and releasing a further 60 fish.

Other good catches included: Andy Stronach two for 6lb, releasing a further nine; Jim Doig, two for 7lb; John Bain, three for 8lb; Barry Tindel, 10 on catch and release.

Daniel Gillion landed a 3lb rainbow after his first fly fishing lesson, with an added bonus it was a tagged fish. FORBES OF

KINGENNIE has been plagued with cold, strong winds but the fishing has still been very productive if you get a bit of shelter.

The Boathouse has been the stand-out pool with some outstanding returns including some stunning blues and a few big fish.

Mr Leslie took advantage of the conditions and had over 20 fish on small black buzzers and hares ear nymphs, the biggest around 12lb.

The Bankside has been fishing well with buzzers very effective but there has been a lot of fish caught on lures, mostly a damsel or yellow dancer.
