A female motorcyclist killed in a car crash in Perthshire has been named by police.

Officers revealed the identity of Shona Mitchell who died in a collision on the A85 at St Fillans on Sunday.

The 24-year-old biker from Crieff was pronounced dead at the scene when her bike was involved in a crash with a car.

In a statement Police Scotland said her family were upset by their sudden loss and that she will be greatly missed.

The accident involved a Vauxhall Astra and happened at about 3pm on Sunday.

The driver of the car sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.

The road was closed to allow an investigation into the accident.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing and Police Scotland Tayside Division is appealing for anyone who may have information that could assist officers to call 101.

Tributes to Shona were paid on social networking site Facebook last night.

Grace Hume wrote: “Will forever cherish our memories and you will always be in my heart.

“Keep that beautiful smile on your beautiful face.”

Charmaine Lewis posted: “Smile on Shona so beautiful inside and out you will be missed so much by your friends and family.”
