Tough test for Roselea’s revival

-

Leaders Dundonald Bluebell host a Montrose Roselea outfit fighting for survival.

The Angus side have won their last three games to give them a chance of staying up, but they face a tough assignment against a team that hasn’t lost since August.

Bluebell are without the suspended Scott Orrock and Gregg Meikle, who is unavailable.

The visitors are sweating on the fitness of five players – Joe Reoch, Steven Greig, Calum Rae, Grant Mowat and Chris Milne – and will all require late fitness checks.

Wednesday’s win over Lochee United saw Jeanfield Swifts open up an eight-point gap on the Bluebells, so Swifts go to sixth-placed Bathgate Thistle in confident mood.

With just one or two knocks after Wednesday, boss Ross Gunnion anticipates having everyone available, other than the injured Chris Anton.

Despite three straight defeat that have seen Kennoway Star Hearts sink into the drop zone, manager Eck Davidson isn’t pushing the panic button yet, especially as half the teams in the league could be involved in the scramble at the bottom.

But as they head to second top Haddington after conceding 10 goals in the last two games, Davidson is demanding that they tighten up at the back.

The return of defender Mikey Lee is warmly welcomed, as is the availability of striker Gav Gray, because although they have scored six in those two games, Hearts have also been profligate in front of goal.

Meanwhile, Oakley’s home game with Thornton Hibs is a basement battle.

Hibs are bottom and are 11 points adrift of their secondbottom hosts and look doomed.

The Blairwood side, however, are currently just one win from safety, and must be favourites to get it, especially after holding Lochee United last week.
