The best cereals crop in Fife has been judged to be a field of Gerald oats from Roy Fisher at Airdrie Farm.

He achieved the top mark of 94 points in Fife Agricultur­al Associatio­n’s annual crop competitio­n. Other winners: Winter wheat (judge: Fenwick Jackson, Kersheugh, Jedburgh) – 1 Roy Fisher, Airdrie (Zulu), 88 pts, 2 Roy Fisher, Frithfield (Horatio), Contract, 87 pts, 3 Lyndsay Ashworth, Abercrombi­e (Clare), 84 pts.

Winter barley – 1 Edward Baxter, Gilston Mains (Blend), 90 pts, 2 Mike McLaren, Nether Strathkinn­ess (Meridian), 87 pts, 3 Ian Brunton, Balmonth (Glacier), 86 pts.

Spring barley – 1 Bill Arnot, Kilmux (Planet), 82 pts, 2 Jim Jack, Balhousie (Wagon), 80 pts, 3 Jonathan Kilfedder, Wormiston (Optic), 78 pts.
