Windsor double in prospect for Prendergast

Racing: Confidence boost from recent win can make up for 2lb higher mark

- The Ferret

PRENDERGAST HILL returned to winning form at Windsor earlier this month and can make it a quick-fire course double in the Sky Bet Handicap.

The four-year-old looked a thoroughly promising individual at the start of the current campaign having won on his final outing last year and opening with a decent all-weather effort back in March.

However, it has been far from plain sailing since that reappearance, with a handful of disappointing efforts interspersed with some fine placed runs in the last few months.

His handicap subsequently dropped from 85 at the start of the year to 82 last time, and the slight reprieve on the weight front seemed to work the oracle at this track last time.

Sporting first-time cheekpieces, he was well placed in a race that was run at a strong pace, eventually finishing with real purpose to see off favourite Rotherwick by three-quarters of a length.

He benefited from a fine ride that day and Jim Crowley will be aboard again as he tries to follow up off a 2lb higher mark.

That rise is clearly far from ideal but, with his confidence boosted by that recent success, Prendergast Hill can get back on the upward curve for Ed De Giles. INCLINATION should make it four wins on the bounce in the Sky Bet Windsor Series Fillies’ Handicap. Clive Cox’s daughter of Acclamation has made rapid progress through the ranks, rising from a mark of 63 to her current perch of 77 via two victories at Bath and one win at Salisbury.

She showed plenty of heart to claim her narrow Bath successes, but the small margins of victory did at least limit what the handicapper could subsequently do.

Indeed, Inclination showed there may still be a bit in the locker with a three-quarter-length verdict at Salibury last time, defying a 4lb rise to win in comfortable style.

The handicapper took a dim view of that effort and raised her 6lb, but Inclination may well not be done with yet.

MR POCKET ran into a decent type in Kyllang Rock on his racecourse bow and must be one for the shortlist in the Sky Bet Maiden Stakes.

BUONARROTI is rated some way below his very best but merits support in the William Hill Bet On Your Mobile Handicap at Ayr.

His recent second at this track was his best run for a while, especially as he missed the break and was always fighting a losing battle from there. SELECTIONS:
