Man got his stepdaughter pregnant

-

A man who got his stepdaughter pregnant has avoided punishment.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his stepdaughter and her child, had been married to the woman’s mother and continued to visit his stepchildren.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard yesterday that on two occasions he found his stepdaughter home alone.

He made “sexual advances” before having sex with the woman, aged 27 at the time.

Sheriff Alastair Brown said the case had “very particular” circumstances – and chose to admonish him, meaning he will have a conviction recorded against him but will otherwise go unpunished.

Depute fiscal Vicki Bell told the court: “He was a regular visitor and let himself in using a key. On two occasions he found the complainer alone and on both occasions she was dressed only in a nightdress.

“On both occasions he made sexual advances and had sexual intercourse with her.

“She then became pregnant and gave birth to a daughter.

“After birth she disclosed to her mother he had had sex with her and believed he was the father of the baby.

“DNA was taken to establish paternity and they confirmed he was the father.”

The 60-year-old, of Dundee, pleaded guilty to a charge under the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act.
