Plea to boost pumped hydro

Scotland’s energy minister has called on the UK Government to provide greater support to the hydro power sector.

Paul Wheelhouse said the industry was at a “crossroads”, with new project numbers falling due to subsidy cuts.

Mr Wheelhouse said “tried and tested” technology like pumped hydro storage had “continued potential”, and urged the UK Government to provide the support the industry needed to grow.
