New ban for disqualified driver
A disqualified driver was caught at the wheel of a work vehicle after popping out to buy painkillers.
Anna Dubal was handed a 12 month ban at Dundee Sheriff Court several months before deciding to drive the vehicle, which belonged to facilities management company Servest.
Fiscal depute Tina Dickie said: “The accused was disqualified from driving on July 9 2016.
“Police received intelligence that suggested that she was driving while disqualified.
“The information was that she was driving a white estate car with the Servest logo in the course of her employment.
“Police officers observed the vehicle being driven near the accused’s home.
“The vehicle was stopped and the accused was found to be driving. She immediately admitted that she was a disqualified driver.”
Solicitor David Sinclair, representing Dubal, said the 37-year-old had not been driving for her work.
He said that she had driven to the supermarket to collect painkillers. He added that since admitting the offence, Dubal had been demoted to cleaner.
Dubal, of Malvina Place, Perth, pled guilty to driving while disqualified and with no insurance on Balhousie Street and Florence Place on August 7.
Sheriff Gillian Wade said Dubal had shown a “flagrant disregard” for her previous ban and added another 12 months of disqualification to her current driving ban.
