Teenage defender Souttar’s Stoke move finally completed

Harry Souttar’s protracted move from Dundee United to Stoke City has finally been completed.

The paperwork that held up the transfer has now been dealt with and the 17-year-old giant central defender is living the dream with the Potters in the English Premier League.

The deal should earn the Tangerines around £200,000 and the Tannadice club wished him well.

In statement, they confirmed: “Dundee United today announce the transfer of defender Harry Souttar to English Premier League club Stoke City for an undisclosed fee.

“Promoted to the first team squad by manager Ray McKinnon ahead of the 2016/17 season, Harry leaves United having made four appearances for the first team, scoring once.

“United thank Harry for his contribution and wish him every success in his future career.”

The Tangerines face Hibs on Sunday and three of their injured midfielders all have a chance of being available.

Stewart Murdoch and Charlie Telfer are rated as better bets than Willo Flood, but McKinnon hasn’t ruled out any of them.

He said: “At the moment Willo is about 60-40 against to be available for Sunday’s game.

“But he is a quick healer and, with the game three days away, I wouldn’t rule him out yet.

“Both Stewart Murdoch and Charlie Telfer are 50-50 at this point.

“I’m very fortunate as all three are determined to make the game and doing everything possible to make themselves available.”
