Dundee singer-songwriter Billy Mitchell is celebrating the release of his new single Losing Control, which came out on Monday.

To add to the feelgood factor around the release, Billy’s CD launch at Conroy’s Basement tomorrow night is completely sold out.

The gig is part of a tour to promote the single and it takes him out on the road with his mate Kyle Falconer from The View.

Billy says: “I’m absolute buzzing for this tour.

“It feels good to be supporting acts like this and I’m really excited for doing another tour with Kyle.

“It will be a bit different to the last one I did with him but amazing regardless.

“The set I am playing now I am much more comfortable and confident with and it seemed to go down great at The View gigs.

“We are going to be selling CDs on the night and it’s a pretty cool venue. It’s fantastic that it’s sold out.”

For those of you who are lucky enough to have a ticket, doors open around 7.30pm and support comes from Carousel, Vertigo and Gregory James.

Head down to the Reading Rooms tonight for Eglo Records boss and NTS Radio host Alexander Nut’s small town club DJ debut.

Alexander connects musical eras in the way other DJs weave between genres, guiding listeners through everything from 70s African music to early digidub and vintage soul.

Gates open at 10.30pm with Miss DLove on the warm-up and entry is £5 before 11.30pm, £7 after.

Tomorrow, Autodisco welcomes special guest Ray Mang.

DJ, producer, remixer and all round studio boffin, Ray’s incendiary DJ sets blend house, disco, boogie, cosmic, Balearic and anything else that takes his fancy.

He has released on more legendary labels than should really be allowed and his many talents as a musician and producer have driven a wealth of collaborations.

As a remixer, his phone never stops ringing. He’s notched up credits for Gorillaz, Shirley Bassey, Grand National, Beck, Bryan Ferry, Doves, Freddie Mercury and Bloc Party.

Support comes from residents Dave Autodisco and Dicky Trisco and it’s £8 before midnight, £10 after.

Hot Cats is back to fill the void of a Sunday afternoon with crate digger and top selector Palms Trax.

Ending the summer with a bang, Berlin-based DJ and producer Palms joins residents Is Kill and Marc JD for a fine selection of disco, house and pushing into techno.

Rooms Thursdays has a new club night launching next week.

The Intergalactic Funk Smugglers touch down with special guests Main Ingredient.

Expect funky jams, electro slammers and acid bangers.

Cover Daddy are at Number 57 tonight from 9.30pm.

Tomorrow, it’s Kenny Martin and Steve Gaughan at 5.30pm followed at 7.30pm by The Mess Arounds.

The Junkyard Dogs are in their usual Sunday residency at 7pm. Cherry Bombz play unplugged shows this weekend, starting at McDaniels tonight at 9.30pm. Tomorrow the pop punk group are at St Thomas Bar in Arbroath from 9.30pm then on Sunday at The Neptune in Montrose from 3pm.

McDaniels also has Hustler tomorrow night from 10pm.

Clark’s on Lindsay Street has guitar and vocal busking anthems from Kieron Smart in the tea time slot at 6pm.

That’s followed at 9.30pm by The Mess Arounds with soul and Motown classics.

Abandon play leftfield pop and melodic rock tomorrow at the same time.

Both are free entry before midnight.

The Jazz Lunch is on Sunday with Kevin Murray and The Residents from 3.30pm.

Thursday’s Pre Production sees Orange Claw Hammer pay tribute to avant-garde weirdo rocker Captain Beefheart.
