RSABI takes on new welfare manager

-

Scots rural charity RSABI has appointed a new welfare manager.

Mags Granger has taken on the role following the retirement of John Macfarlane, who has been in the post for nearly 14 years.

Ms Granger has more than 14 years’ experience in the sector working with the Citizens Advice Bureau in Arbroath and latterly the Edinburgh Council welfare rights service.

She specialises in welfare rights and debt issues and will work alongside the charity’s existing welfare team.

RSABI provides financial support and assistance to those who rely or have relied upon land-based employment in Scotland and through age, injury, illness or other misfortune, now experience hardship.

Ms Granger said: “I’m really excited about joining the RSABI welfare team, and I’m looking forward to the journey ahead.

“RSABI do essential work across the country and I feel privileged to be a part of it.”

RSABI chief executive Nina Clancy said: “We’re delighted to welcome Mags on board, and she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience that I’m sure will prove to be invaluable to our beneficiaries.”

The RSABI welfare team provides a listening ear, as well as practical and financial support to households in need.

The charity also runs a helpline, 0300 111 4166, which is open every day of the year from 7am to 11pm.

It provides a single point of enquiry to handle everything from questions about the benefits system to delivering support on personal matters.
