Alloa maintain momentum

Alloa maintained their faultless start in BT Caledonia Division One with a hard fought 27-18 win at home to DUNFERMLIN­E that yielded all five league points.

A penalty by Calum Allardyce gave Dunfermlin­e an early lead, and the visitors were only 12-11 in arrears at the break.

Further scores by Daniel Murrell and Dale Foster secured the bonus point, but Dunfermlin­e had the last word with a Scott Baxter converted try.

Gordonians were 48-23 winners at CARNOUSTIE.

GLENROTHES were the day’s highest scorers, returning from MACKIE ACADEMY with a 62-0 win to their credit. Cammy Goodall claimed three of the Fifers’ tries, while Aaron Campbell, Barry Crookston, David Gray, Michael Delorey and Gavin Emerson also scored, and Kain Duguid booted six conversion­s.

STRATHMORE had a 50-0 win over HARRIS ACADEMY at Elliot Road. Harris, who finished the match with 14 players because of injuries, are still on the hunt for their first win of the campaign.

Hillfoots missed out on a bonus point for the first time this season when they had to work hard for a 17-11 win at BLAIRGOWRI­E.

MORGAN opened their account for the season with a 13-5 success at home to PANMURE, and the day’s other match saw Falkirk II post a 54-5 win away to CRIEFF AND STRATHEARN. BRIDGEHAUG­H were the leading scorers in Division Three Midlands (South), beating Bannockbur­n 72-17 to top the table ahead of Grangemout­h Stags II, who were 43-5 winners at home to GLENROTHES DEVELOPMEN­T XV.

Meanwhile, FIFE SOUTHERN had a 27-10 success at Hillfoots II, and Alloa II won 12-7 at home to Bo’ness.
