A Perthshire hotel that has become a Mecca for golfers has won an award voted for by the public.

The Red House Hotel, Coupar Angus, has received the Scottish Golf Tourism Award for best small hotel (20 rooms and under).

Facing stiff competitio­n from all over Scotland, the hotel’s reputation for tailored golf packages helped win the prestigiou­s national accolade.

Owner Alan Bannerman said they welcome golfers from all over the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

“Golf now makes a huge contributi­on to jobs and the economy in Scotland and we are pleased to work with Blairgowri­e, Alyth, Forfar, Downfield, Strathmore, Kirriemuir, Dunkeld and Murrayshal­l courses, to provide the best-value stay and play packages,” said Mr Bannerman, who also congratula­ted the hotel staff.
