It may not be the biggest beast in the world, but the discovery of a new fly in Perthshire is causing quite a stir in certain circles. The insect was discovered on a Perthshire river bank but is making headlines across the world.

While the creature is miniscule, its name is anything but, with the monicker platypalpus aliterolamellatus kovalev not exactly one which trips off the tongue.
