Monfils forced to pull out

-

Gael Monfils was last night forced to pull out of the ATP World Tour Finals with a rib injury.

The Frenchman, who had already been eliminated after losing his opening matches to Milos Raonic and Dominic Thiem, picked up the injury in Stockholm in October.

“I tried to make it, but I couldn’t,” he said.

Monfils’ place in this afternoon’s final group match against Novak Djokovic, who has already booked his place in the semi-finals, will be taken by Belgium’s world No 11 David Goffin.

Raonic then takes on Thiem for a place in the last four.
