QUIZ: The Perth branch of the British Heart Foundation is to hold its annual quiz night on Friday March 3 at the Civil Service Club, St Leonard’s Bank, Perth, starting at 7.30pm. The entry fee is £20 per four-person team and those interested can contact Raymond Adam, branch chairman, on 01738 634334 or at m.c.adam@hotmail.co.uk. POETRY COMPETITION: Perthshire Writers is running a poetry competition that will be open to pupils in all secondary schools in Perth and Kinross.
There will be two categories: S1 to 3 and S4 to S6. There is no set theme, pupils can enter up to two poems, maximum length 30 lines, and entries in both English and Scots are welcome.
The winners will receive a cash prize and be invited to read their poems at a public performance. The closing date is Tuesday February 28 and entries can be submitted via school English departments or by email to jimwaite10@btinternet.com. NEEDLECRAFT: Perth Needlecraft Circle’s next meeting will be on Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm at Vision PK, New Row, Perth. Work will continue on Applique (Part Two) with Lesley McClintock. KINROSS: Kinross-shire Historical Society will meet at Kinross Parish Church on Monday February 20 at 7.30pm, when the talk will be Missing in Borneo, by George Sutherland, about the discovery, investigation and identification of a lost wartime aircraft. CATHEDRAL: Friends of Perth Cathedral Music (FPCM) welcome Craigclowan Preparatory School in concert at Perth Cathedral St Ninian’s, North Methven Street, Perth, on Saturday March 4, 11.30am to 12.15pm. Tickets, available at the door, are £7, £5 for concessions and FPCM members, with accompanied children admitted for free. Proceeds go towards musical training in the cathedral. RATTRAY: Rattray Messy Church will be held on Sunday in the Balmoral Road Church Hall from 9.30am to 10.30am. All families are welcome for fun and games while having breakfast.
