Bollan urges his players not to let standards drop
Forfar boss Gary Bollan will take his team on the long trip to Berwick, looking to maintain their record of not having lost a league match outwith Angus.
The table-topping Loons boast a brilliant away record in League 2 this season, with their solitary defeat on the road coming at Arbroath on October 15.
The have won nine and drawn two as they continue their march towards promotion under Bollan.
They did hit a bit of a bump at Station Park last Saturday, drawing 1-1 with Elgin City, but Bollan is hoping it’s back to business as usual at Shielfield today.
“It is all about maintaining the standard we have been setting throughout the season,” said Bollan.
“Also, maybe a draw was not such a bad result for us last weekend as it kept a distance between ourselves and the others.
“We have faced our two closest challengers (Arbroath and Elgin) in our last two games and won one and drawn one. However, I was still a bit disappointed as we look to win every game, especially those at home.
“The outcome of this match will be determined by what we do.
“If we can hit the high levels we are capable of and stay there then we have a very good chance of winning.
“As I have said before if we look after ourselves and win our game then we do not need to look at any other scores.
“We have a good record against Berwick this season but you can’t look at that and predict what will happen next time.
“Football is not like that so we will have to perform well.”
Captain Gavin Swankie has shaken off the knock he picked up against Elgin and is included in the squad.
However, former Dundee and Raith Rovers defensive midfielder Eddie Malone is suspended as he starts a threegame ban.
Berwick have signed midfielder Sean McKirdy on an emergency loan deal from Hamilton and he could make his debut against the Loons. The former Hearts player has been capped at U15, U16 and U17 levels for Scotland.
