Saints will work hard to find solution

- NEIL ROBERTSON

St Johnstone’s Brian Easton admits his side’s poor home form this season has left him completely baffled.

However, one thing he is certain of is that the players and backroom staff will be working tirelessly to find a solution.

Saints came a cropper again on Saturday in a game they were expected to win at McDiarmid against struggling Kilmarnock, who currently have Lee McCulloch in charge as caretaker manager following the departure of Lee Clark.

Tommy Wright’s side went into the game on a high after last weekend’s win in Dingwall against Ross County, but it soon became glaringly apparent that they simply weren’t at the races on Saturday and Killie ran out deserved 2-0 winners.

Now, Easton is determined to put things right.

When asked if he could put his finger on the reason for the indifferent home form that has seen Saints win only four out of 13 league games at McDiarmid this season, the big defender said: “I honestly don’t know. I’m not sure if some teams who are chasing the top six sit in a bit more here now.

“We are maybe struggling to break them down and they are hitting on us. But we are giving away sloppy goals as well at home which we saw again against Kilmarnock.

“That is disappointing but the coaching staff here won’t just shout and moan at you.

“When we lost four sloppy goals here against Ross County (in November), the next couple of weeks we really worked on the defence. It wasn’t a case of it just wasn’t good enough, they were proactive about it and worked on it.

“So I am sure we will be doing the same over the next couple of weeks trying to sort things out.”
