Money will help all-ability play facilities at Strathearn park

-

Play facilities in a Crieff park will benefit from money provided by a UK supermarket scheme.

The Friends of MacRosty Park is delighted to receive £4,750 from Tesco’s Bags of Help grant scheme.

The funding will go towards the Friends’ abilities swings project at the park, and should allow children of all ages to play together.

Isabel Simpson, Friends of MacRosty Park committee member, said: “We plan to install four pieces of all-ability play equipment, which is wheelchair accessible, in MacRosty Park to allow all young people the right to play together.

“I think Crieff not even having a Tesco store and us being awarded the money is amazing because it was all the Tesco customers throughout Tayside that voted for us.”

Voting ran in Tesco stores from December 1 to 31, with customers choosing which local project they wished to get the top award, using a token provided at the shop they visited.

Tony McElroy, Tesco’s head of communications in Scotland, commented: “Bags of Help has been a fantastic success.

“We have been overwhelmed by the response of our customers and it’s been great to give people a say on how the money will be spent in their community. We can’t wait to see the projects come to life.”

The Bags of Help scheme has awarded more than £25 million across around 3,000 projects. Tesco had teamed up with Groundwork to launch the initiative.

Funding is available to groups who are seeking to use and develop outdoor spaces in ways that will benefit their community. More information is available at www.tesco.com/bagsofhelp
