Sex attack accused remanded

-

A teenager has made a second court appearance accused of carrying out a sex attack on a woman at the North Inch.

Kyle Laing, 19, of Perth, appeared at Perth Sheriff Court in private to face charges on petition.

It is alleged that he attacked the woman on February 19 by grabbing her, tripping her up by sweeping her legs with his and pulling her to the ground.

It is then alleged that he straddled her, seized her arms and pinned her to the ground and placed his hands over her mouth to stop her cries for help before repeatedly rubbing his genital area over her clothes.

He faces a further charge of sexual assault from June 18 last year.

It is alleged that Laing seized a 15-year-old girl from behind, turned her round and tried to kiss her on the lips.

He is said to have then grabbed her body, touched her bottom over her clothing and attempted to seize her neck and face in a garden in Perth.

Laing first appeared at Perth Sheriff Court on February 20 when he entered no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

At a committal hearing in the same court yesterday, the case was continued to trial and Laing was again remanded in custody.

Police descended on the North Inch park following reports of the alleged attack.

An area near to Bells Sports Centre and the Perth Bowling Club was taped off as officers carried out inquiries.
