Dundee family is an example to us all
Sometimes one just has to step back and admire the selflessness and community spirit of Tayside and Fife’s charity fundraisers.
As if presiding over a 13-strong family and preparing for the arrival of her first grandchild were not enough, Dundee supermum Emma Hann has decided to put herself through a gruelling physical challenge to raise funds and awareness for Cancer Research UK.
Emma has become the poster girl for this year’s Race For Life, proving no matter how hectic things get – and she can redefine the term – there is always time to spare a thought for others.
Husband Roy, a nurse practitioner, is joining Emma and the 13 children in attempting the run.
It is a truly impressive effort from a family which admits it can swing from military precision to full flexibility but prefers to “go with the flow”.
The charity has pulled off a masterstroke by securing such a remarkable set of people to publicise its fundraiser.
Viewing their busy lifestyles, it seems inconceivable that the vast majority of people could not find a little time in their lives to participate in the 5K, 10K, family and “pretty muddy” events being staged across the country to raise vital cash for a cause which touches everyone.
The Hanns are an example to us all and we wish them well in their endeavour.
