Perthshire youths help charity
Two Perthshire youths are to travel to Africa to help build homes for communities.
Callum Ross and Jacob Jolley, both 17, of Auchterarder, will visit Tanzania in July along with the Vine Trust to embark on a two-week construction project to aid the most vulnerable residents in the area.
Jacob, who is in his final year at the Community School of Auchterarder, and Callum, who is studying professional cookery at Perth College, are now fundraising to meet the costs of their trip, which are around £2,400.
Callum said: “We have already held some fundraising events such as afternoon teas, and are holding a ceilidh at Auchterarder Bowling Club on April 1, which we hope will raise a substantial sum.
“However, we only have a very limited time to raise the money, and have school and work to fit in, which is why donations like this are so welcome.
“We’re really confident now that we’ll meet our target and are looking forward to the trip so much.”
The youths have been helped by a £500 donation from Muir Homes.
Grace Brownlow, sales and marketing director at Muir Homes, said: “When we heard these two local young men needed to raise money for their trip we were delighted to help them out.”
