Promotion contenders facing off at Thornton

-

Match of the day in the North League is at Memorial Park where, if the game is on, Thornton Hibs take on Scone.

Both sides are pushing for promotion but the weather has been far from kind to Craig Gilbert’s Hibs. However, they remain just two points off top with four games in hand.

Gilbert has a fully-fit squad, as does Thistle’s Derek Lawson.

Blairgowrie’s game with Kinnoull last weekend had to be abandoned due to a serious injury to skipper Mark Brash and he is the only absentee from Billy McKay’s squad as they meet Lochee Harp at Davie Park.

McKay can welcome back Gordon Pirie and Paul Maloney. Harp boss Michael Gormley has a doubt over Joe Colquhoun but can call on Connaire Connelly who missed last week’s cup tie.

East Craigie will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment of defeat at Violet in the cup as they entertain Brechin Vics at Craigie Park.

Graeme McLeish is doubtful for the Dundee side but they are otherwise at full strength against a Vics side which has struggled since Charlie King’s departure.

Coupar Angus are expected to bounce back from last weekend’s 4-1 home defeat by Scone Thistle as they make the short trip to take on Forfar Albion with a full squad available.

Kinnoull and Kirriemuir Thistle clash at Tulloch Park in a real promotion sixpointer.

Alan Cameron has the same squad that he took to Blairgowrie last weekend although Liam Wooley did return to training this week.

Jim Finlayson has the same group available that reached the GA cup semifinal after defeating Lochee Harp.

Newburgh are well clear of the bottom three but have played more games and will be looking to end the season in a positive manner, starting with the visit to bottom club Lochore Welfare.

Welfare have been playing well, particularly at home, but have failed to get the rub of the green according to boss Andy Healy.

Luncarty boss Jonny Kelly hopes his side take the same attitude in today’s home game with Arbroath Vics as they showed last weekend in the clinical thrashing of Lochore.

The Perth side have a full squad with Richie Montgomery and Bally Whytock back. Vics are also at full strength.

In the North Region, Montrose Roselea will be hoping to put the pressure on Spey Valley with victory at home to Burghead Thistle.

A win will see Roselea go top as their rivals for the title are in Elginshire Cup action at Islavale.

Then it will be down to next weekend as Spey face Islavale again and Roselea take on Nairn St Ninian.

Roselea have a full squad available for today’s game.
