London cab firm opens new plant

A new factory is opening to build London taxis after a £300 million investment by its Chinese owners.

The plant at Ansty in the West Midlands will produce electric vehicles only and owners Geely said it expected the new London Taxi Company facility to be churning out 5,000 vehicles a year by 2019.

Production of the traditional diesel-powered taxi will be run down at the firm’s Coventry site over the next year.
