Loons determined to stay top, says Bollan

Forfar may have seen their lead at the top of League Two chipped away to just one point by Arbroath but manager Gary Bollan is remaining calm ahead of the visit of Berwick Rangers this afternoon.

Bollan said: “The advantage that we had has been reduced but we are still at the top of the table.

“We are still the side being chased and if we go out and win our games it will stay like that. We are fired up for the Berwick game and determined to keep our place at the top.”

The Loons go into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw at Elgin, with Bollan saying: “We went up to Borough Briggs to face a good side and we came home with a good point after coming from behind.

“It would have been good to get winning again and build some momentum, and we have players who are capable of doing that, but on days when you are not winning it is important not to get beat. We are having a disappointing run results-wise but we finished strongly last Saturday at Elgin and will look to build on that.

“We have defenders who defended well and we have Jim Lister back on good goalscoring form so there are lots to be positive about.”

The Borderers defeated Bollan’s side last month and will be difficult opponents again according to the Station Park boss.

Bollan added: “That was only five games ago so it is still fresh in our minds. They lost to Arbroath last weekend and will be disappointed with that, so this will be a hard game.

“We have everyone available and there is a real competition for players.

“We gave a few players an outing in Martyn Fotheringham’s testimonial during the week and they took it to impress. Some of our youngsters really shone against Dundee and they have come into my thoughts for this game.”
