Since the retiral of Mrs Dewar as postmistress at Kilrenny the Post Office there has practically been closed. The nearest available is either at Cellardyke or Anstruther, fully one mile distant from the village and, as may be supposed, this is causing great inconvenience. This was taken notice of at a meeting of Kilrenny Town Council, Bailie Butters stating that great hardship was being caused, especially to old age pensioners, some of whom were unable to go as far as Cellardyke for their pensions.

Plans are under consideration for the conversion of the merchants’ exchange and reading room in Dundee Chamber of Commerce buildings into a luncheon room or club for Chamber members. They include a restautant to seat 100, lounge area, bar and a small room for private luncheons, together with toilets and other accommodation. Mr A.S. The £25,000 project to protect the pier at Dysart harbour will begin later this year after fears that the sea defence may collapse. Funding from Fife Council was secured with work scheduled to start this month. However, delays in appointing a contractor mean that this has been pushed back. Local councillor Kay Carrington says the work is essential. “The harbour is everything to Dysart.”
