Swifts need to crank up pressure on rivals

-

Jeanfield have games in hand down at the bottom of the Super League but they really need to start winning to put pressure on the clubs around them.

Last week’s 2-2 draw with Carnoustie didn’t help their cause and this weekend they face one of their fellow strugglers in Camelon at Carmuirs Park.

Swifts boss Ross Gunnion welcomes back Lee Deans and Scott Mollison but Fraser Smith is suspended and Mark Gordon misses out after sustaining fractured ribs on his debut last week.

Carnoustie’s form over the last six league games puts them above leaders Kelty Hearts but manager Alan McSkimming insists his side go into the game as underdogs.

The Gowfers’ makeshift side held on with 10 men to draw 2-2 at Jeanfield despite leading 2-0 but are confident that they can put a further dent into Hearts’ title hopes.

Carnoustie welcome back Adam Harwood, Ryan Taylor and Ewan Buggins to the squad, and while Steven Cook is a doubt, they will be at full strength for the game.

Kelty boss Tam Courts also has a full squad to choose from.

Last weekend Dundonald Bluebell enjoyed derailing Kelty’s title charge with a fine 2-1 win and this weekend they face another Fife derby with Hill Of Beath visiting Moorside Park.

The Haws also did their bit to scupper Kelty by conceding a late winner to Bonnyrigg Rose at Keirs Park to lose 3-2 after being 2-0 in front.

Craig Wedderburn sits out the game as he serves his second game of a ban but Calum Rarity returns. Paul Quinn and Sam Buchan are also missing for Bluebell. Hill of Beath’s Lee Reid serves a one-game suspension.

Lochee United acted quickly to take Kevin Buchan back to Thomson Park following his release by Broughty Athletic and the striker comes straight into George Shields’ squad for the visit of Fauldhouse United.

The visitors look doomed and it’s difficult to see anything but three points for Lochee.

Shields will be without Connor Birse and Kris Rollo through injury.
