Carse of Gowrie Men’s Shed gets double cash boost

-

A Carse of Gowrie group that supports men of all ages has won the support of the public.

The Eastern Perthshire Action Partnership held an event at Coupar Angus Primary School where the public were asked to vote on line and in person for the projects they wanted to support with grant funding.

Among the groups looking for funding was the Carse of Gowrie and District Men’s Shed, which was successful in their bid from the Action Partnership and with public support was awarded £1,200.

The organisation offers activities and companionship for men of all ages and Councillor Douglas Pover had also recently managed to secure them £2,000 from a charitable trust to further the aims and resources of the Men’s Shed.

“I was delighted in being able to present the Carse of Gowrie and District Men’s shed with a cheque for £2,000,” he said.

“This money comes from a charitable trust which supports older people. I know how important the Men’s Shed activities are for men of all ages. They can all meet together and take part in various activities using their skills or simply come for the companionship and social inclusion.

“I am delighted they received a further £1,200 from the Eastern Perthshire Action Partnership. I would also like to congratulate all the other organisations successful on the day. I know the money will be put to good use by a host of different organisations”.

Other successful applicants were Inchture Baby and Toddlers Group, Care of Gowrie Community Links Group, Invergowrie Older Persons Project, Carse Community Café, Friends of Cistern Green (Errol) and St Madoes and Kinfauns Church.
