Clydesdale markets Highland Show

One of Scotland’s most iconic native breeds, the Clydesdale, has been unveiled as the ‘hero’ image for this year’s Royal Highland Show.

The marketing campaign, which follows in the hoofprints of Morag the Highland Cow, will see Fife-bred Collessie Jennifer’s picture emblazoned upon billboards, buses, social channels and TV in the run up to the main event on June 22.

Edinburgh Trams is also featuring the horse on a specially-created tram wrap that will creative significan­t standout across the Capital.

Jennifer, who was bred by former Clydesdale Horse Society president Ronnie Black at Newton of Collessie, is the fourth generation of Royal Highland championsh­ip winning prize stock – as her mother, grandmothe­r and great grandmothe­r all prevailed to stand best of breed within the Ingliston main ring.

Commenting on the campaign, Royal Highland show manager David Jackson said: “Jennifer is simply a stunning horse and a fitting star to feature in the advertisin­g campaign to promote Scotland’s premier agricultur­al show.

“The show brings together the country’s best from food to shopping to livestock.”

Mr Jackson said he hopes the campaign will encourage the public to come and experience the best Scotland has to offer.

Mr Black said: “The Clydesdale is a breed of draught horse derived from the farm horses of Clydesdale which is in existence thanks to a committed number of breeders who invest time and passion into protecting the future of this beautiful native breed.”

He continued: “There is no better showcase to see this magnificen­t animal than at the Royal Highland Show.”

The 2017 Royal Highland Show takes place from Thursday June 22 until Sunday June 25.
