Man robbed by men wielding a cattle prod
Victim was fortunate to escape without sustaining serious injury
A Fife man has revealed how he feared for his life after being robbed by vicious thieves wielding a cattle prod.
Police believe Scott Drummond was lucky to escape serious injury following the incident in Cowdenbeath at around 7.30pm on Monday, when two unknown men assaulted the 48-year-old in broad daylight in the town’s Cullaloe View.
The two men responsible first threatened Mr Drummond with the weapon and got him to hand over a three-figure sum of money and his mobile phone.
However, the culprits went on to subsequently assault their victim in any case, targeting his neck and side with the potentially-lethal stun gun.
“I’ve never experienced anything like it and I never want to experience anything like it again,” Mr Drummond said,
“I thought I was going to be stabbed to be honest.
“It was around 7.30pm and I was just walking along on my phone when I got asked the time. Then the next thing I know I was being robbed.
“I actually thought the thing they were carrying was a knife at first, almost as long as a sheet of A4 paper, but then I saw it sparking. “I’ve never seen anything like it.” Mr Drummond, who had been visiting a friend when he was attacked, said his ordeal lasted around 15 minutes or so and hopes people may have seen the pair responsible in and around that part of town on Monday evening.
The shocking incident has prompted a police investigation, and detectives are anxious to trace the men responsible.
Detective Inspector Kelly McEwan, of Dunfermline CID, said: “This was an appalling and violent attack, which has left the victim badly shaken.
“It is important that we trace the two men responsible as soon as possible and officers are currently conducting high visibility patrols in the area.”
The first suspect is described as a white man in his late thirties and is around 6ft to 6ft 1in with a medium build.
He was wearing blue mechanics overalls with a grey hooded top. His face was covered by a bandana or similar item.
The second suspect is also a white man, who is around 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in with a stocky build. He was wearing a dark blue tracksuit, with black shoes or trainers. He was also wearing a bandana or similar to cover his face.
