Opponents of Judy Murray’s sports centre plan fear defeat

-

Opponents of plans by Britain’s No 1 tennis mum, Judy Murray, to create a “world class” centre to breed a new generation of Scots sports stars near her sons Andy and Jamie’s home town admitted yesterday that they fear they face defeat.

Judy wants to build the multimillion-pound tennis and golf centre, at Park of Keir, on the outskirts of Dunblane, Perthshire, as a “bricks and mortar legacy” of Andy and Jamie’s success.

Four months have passed since an independent reporter completed his findings on the plans for the farmland site next to Keir Roundabout, at the junction of the M9 and A9.

But they have not been made public, and now the decision on the scheme lies with Scottish Government ministers.

Pressure group RAGE (Residents Against Greenbelt Erosion), who oppose the development, said they were now expecting bad news.

Chairwoman Inga Bullen said: “We believe the ministers can only be taking so long because they do not have the support of the Reporter’s recommendation, and they know we will scrutinise their decision.”
