NHS Tayside must make apology over treatment
A health board has been told to apologise for sending a patient with a suspected brain aneurysm home, telling her she had muscle pain, after which she collapsed and died.
The case was investigated by a public services watchdog, which concluded NHS Tayside had failed to provide reasonable treatment.
A report by the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman said: “While we could not say that the woman’s life would definitely have been saved if the relevant tests had been carried out, independent advice that we obtained said that it was probable that her condition was treatable.”
