Delegates look to build on new skills

-

A 10-strong group of delegates hoping to embark on careers in the construction industry has completed an intensive six-week training programme which utilised major projects under way in Perth.

JB Safesite, a locally-based safety training company, took the lead in managing Perth’s first European Social Fund Construction Skills Academy in partnership with major UK construction industry employer, Balfour Beatty.

The delegates were put through their paces by training manager Ewan Begg and their skills put to the test by Balfour Beatty staff during the two days each week spent on site at the Perth Transport Futures Project, Huntingtower, and the Almondbank Flood Protection Scheme.

Lesley English, of the Perth and Kinross Council Employment Hub, said: “It was fantastic to see the programme come to life, to see the course delegates develop in knowledge, confidence and attitude over the six-week period, and to culminate in such a successful outcome for all the guys and their families.”
