Man accused of abuse threats
A man is to stand trial accused of telling police officers that he was going to sexually abuse the children of their sergeant.
Gary Chalmers denied the charge, as well as six others against him, when he appeared at Perth Sheriff Court.
The 37-year-old is alleged to have refused to leave The Venue bar on Perth’s St John Street when asked to do so by staff on May 7 this year.
He is then said to have behaved in a threatening and abusive manner by repeatedly shouting, swearing and uttering threats towards Frances Burgerseed, the licensee, and threatening to slash other staff members with a knife.
A third charge alleges that on the same day and at the same place, he assaulted staff member Anthony White by approaching him while brandishing a bottle and threatening to put it through his face, while a fourth claims that the bottle was an offensive weapon.
Chalmers, of Southparks Road, Glenrothes, is further accused of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering threats towards police officers, of possessing cocaine and of acting in a threatening and abusive manner towards the police sergeant by threatening to find his family and to sexually assault his children.
All the charges are said to have taken place at The Venue on May 7.
Chalmers will appear again in July, ahead of a trial on August 11.
