Conference advice proves to be the business for college students
Students from Perth have received beneficial advice from local businesses at a conference designed to educate and inspire budding entrepreneurs.
The youngsters from Perth College UHI recently joined 250 of their peers from across the University of the Highlands and Islands network for an interactive virtual student conference, Get Inspired, which was designed to educate and inspire budding entrepreneurs.
Delegates were offered advice on areas including personal branding and the importance of building an online presence as well as hearing insights on how to build a successful business and increase employability.
Jill Elder, subject leader and lecturer in business and management at Perth College UHI, said: “I am delighted that our students had the opportunity to hear first-hand the experiences of Andrew Scott, of Victus Consultancy, who has developed not only a very successful business portfolio but his own personal brand.
“Personal branding has become a key to success in business – particularly for an entrepreneur. Students learn about branding within their course and indeed some will have the chance to start to build their own online profile.
“It is critical that students engage with those in industry throughout their course and this event provides fantastic opportunities to do just that.”
Mr Scott added: “I found this unique event to be outstanding and a pleasure to be part of. The engagement of the audience, the energy and the passion shone through.
“The students asked in-depth questions and made inquisitive comments.”
