The recent sale of prime sheep at Forfar Mart incorporat­ed the Tayside Suffolk Breeders Club annual show and sale.

The event, which was judged by Ewart Fairlie, of Letham, was sponsored by East Coast Viners and Lawrie & Symington. Results: Champion – J&T McPherson, of Pitsundry, with a pair of heavy pure Suffolks. Reserve – J&T McPherson, of Pitsundry, with a pair of cross lambs sired by a Suffolk. Prime lambs (49) sold to £130 from Pitsundry or to 282p per kg from North Mains of Baldovan to ave 232p per kg. Heifers (27) sold to a top of 260p per kg for a 526 kg Limousin from Nethermyre­s and purchased by JB Penman, Butchers, Crail, and also £1,448.66 for a Limousin from West Bog and purchased by James Ewart Ltd. to average 223p per kg.
