GLENFARG. President Margot Moran welcomed members and guests from Gateside SWI. LUNCARTY. President Jean Siddle welcomed tellers from Cluny WRI. A fun quiz was organised by Bell McNaughton. New president is Mrs Jean McIntosh. Competitions: hand-knitted tea cosy – Susie Davidson; Jubilee Cup – 1 Bell McNaughton, 2 Susie Davidson; Mhairi Wylie Quiach – Susie Davidson.

SCONE. Speaker was Deborah Gray who spins and dyes natural fibres for knitting. Competitions: baby hat and bootees – 1 Audrey Laing, 2 Joyce Robertson; fruit slice – Joyce Robertson; flower of the month – 1 Margaret Manson, 2 Audrey Laing, 3 equal Eleanor Crichton, Betty Cameron, Louise Goodison.

SILVIE and RUTHVEN. President Joy Reid welcomed everyone. Prizewinners: 1 Margaret Bruce, 2 Joy Reid, 3 Jackie McCowan; flower of the month crystal vase – Evelyn Nicoll. A new committee was appointed with Joy Reid as president.

STANLEY. President Mrs C Lammie introduced Jacqui, of Jacqui’s Cakes, who showed how to make fondant animals. Competitions: flower of the month – 1 R Mills, 2 C Lammie, 3 M Rennie; pretty plate – 1 M Rennie, 2 P Whytock, 3 K Baldie; cupcakes – 1 C Skelton, 2 O Tibit, 3 K Baldie.

STRATHEARN GROUP. Mrs I Robertson welcomed all to the meeting at Fowlis Wester. Doreen Arnott and friends entertained. Mary Docherty is new group secretary. Hostesses were Comrie and Fowlis Wester. Community competition – 1 Fowlis Wester, 2 Madderty, 3 Comrie; fresh flowers in a cup and saucer – 1 M McGregor, Muthill; 2 I Robertson, Madderty; 3 A Hubbard, Fowlis Wester; card any craft – 1 A McColl, 2 A Hubbard, 3 W Brown, all Fowlis Wester; Grace Thomson Trophy for knitting – A Bremner, Madderty; Rose Barnes Trophy for sewing – E Watson, Madderty; chairman’s choice – A McColl, Fowlis Wester; McGill Crichton Trophy for most points – Fowlis Wester.

TAY VALLEY GROUP. The meeting took place in Caputh, hosted by Caputh and Spittalfield institute. Federation chairwoman Ursula Stewart gave a talk on her years leading up to joining the Rural, and group vice-chairwoman Susan McGhie read several poems. Competitions: knitted poppy – 1 Ruby Mills, Stanley; 2 Jean Siddle, Luncarty; 3 Isobel Stewart, Pitcairngreen; lemon and poppyseed loaf – Margaret Cummings, Kinglands.
