Flooding problems tackled

-

Perth and Kinross Council are set to tackle flooding problems in Bankfoot.

The local authority’s flood team will begin work this summer by clearing sediment from the Glenshauch Burn, and will also remove surface water at the lower end of the village with the assistance of the roads department.

The work is being carried out as part of a package across Perth and Kinross Council.

A statement issued to residents who attended a recent meeting of Auchtergaven Community Council said: “We commissioned engineering consultants to have a look at the possibility for dredging locally at Tullibelton Road bridge.

“This is something the Bankfoot Resilience Group specifically requested. Regarding drainage works, we have recently completed some drainage work at Tullibelton.

“And we have installed a manhole on this system at the entrance to the Bankfoot Church Centre and replaced a section of pipe which was previously in a poor condition.

“An overflow for the system has also been installed at the bottom end to improve capacity and relieve pressure on the outfall, which was also found to be in poor condition.

“These works are now complete but we will be shortly carrying out a CCTV survey to check that all is as it should be,” it said.

“And surface water should be cleared at the lower end of the village.”
