Community offers aid to Nepal

-

It has been more than two years since a massive earthquake devastated Nepal, but a Highland Perthshire charity is still working to help the country rebuild.

Tens of thousands of homes were destroyed and around 9,000 people killed in the disaster and recovery has required a worldwide aid effort.

The latest people to support Bring Back The Smile To Nepal’s efforts are guests of Fisher’s Hotel in Pitlochry.

They have generously agreed to have a small donation added to their bill as part of an initiative organised by the hotel and the local Rotary Club.

Every penny will be used by the charity to support its efforts across the world where help is still needed.

“Every small donation of just a pound or two will really add up and help us reach our goal of being able to rebuild another community in Nepal, ” said the charity’s founder Anna Gurung.

“We’d like to thank all the guests at Fisher’s, as well as the management at the hotel and Pitlochry Rotary Club, for supporting us and showing so much interest in our important work.”

Set up by Anna and her friend Liz Holmes, in the aftermath of the earthquake in April 2015, the charity has helped to rebuild schools and deliver aid and has gained endorsement from Joanna Lumley.
